Huaweis New Device Rumored To Feature 64 Bit CPU And 3GB RAM

Huawei might not be as popular in the West as it is back home in China, but it has certainly started to make a name for itself. The company recently announced its new smartphone, called the Ascend Mate 2, at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This smartphone is initially going to be launched in China, though Huawei has said that it intends to launch it in the U.S. as well. Rumors coming in from China suggest that the company is now working on a new high-end series, the first S series device is expected to be released within this year.

It is believed that Huawei will be building on the success of its P and D series smartphones, the former was well received in certain markets due to its strikingly thin design, despite the fact that it was underpowered. D series devices weren’t that good in the design department, but they packed a mean punch. According to rumors, the S series smartphone will be a combination of the P series design and specifications from the D series, resulting in a smartphone that will apparently tout a 64-bit processor developed by Huawei itself, 3GB RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and a 3,050mAh battery. The smartphone is also expected to have a 16 megapixel camera and a 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution display. Coming in at just 6.9mm thin, this smartphone might cost 5,000 yuan in China, which translates into north of $800.
