official-iphone-5c-1As we have been finding out these days, Apple’s iPhone 5c isn’t doing so well for itself. By no means does that put Apple into any financial trouble, but it certainly ruined a pretty good streak for Apple who has in the past managed to churn out iPhones that do extremely well.

There are many reasons why the phone isn’t doing as great. Some attribute it to the fact that it isn’t really much cheaper, meaning that customers would rather fork out extra to get the latest hardware with the iPhone 5S. Some even claim that the colors of the iPhone 5c are to blame, but at the end of the day, the phones just aren’t selling as much as planned.

According to a report from DigiTimes, they are citing sources from the supply chain claiming that Apple is currently sitting on as many as 3 million of unsold units of the iPhone 5c. Apparently, 2 million of them are sitting in Apple’s factories while the remaining 1 million has been distributed to carriers which we’re guessing are having a hard time unloading them to subscribers.

In fact, this is a little ironic because usually during the first couple of weeks/months of a new iPhone being released, attempting to get your hands on one would prove to be a very difficult situation due to limited availability, but we guess that is not the case with the iPhone 5c.

We have to wonder what will Apple do with the unsold inventory once the iPhone 6 rolls around. Might it be that Apple will finally drop the price of the iPhone 5c where it becomes a true low-end handset, instead of just being a slightly cheaper (but still expensive) iPhone?
