The wait is finally over for Sony PlayStation 4 fans. Sony today released the PS4 software update 1.70 which brings a host of new features and improvements for the next generation gaming console. Coming in at just under 200MB the update is a mandatory download for all PS4 owners who will certainly be better off after installing it.

As previously reported, Sony introduces SHAREfactory with the latest update. Its a rich video editing app for PlayStation 4 which includes ability to add special effects, video commentary with picture-in-picture as well as custom soundtracks to recorded gameplay. One the clip is ready users can either share it to social networks or can export it to a USB drive. Previously this was not possible.

Another major feature is automatic pre-download of pre-ordered games. Users will be able to download digital copies of pre-ordered games prior to launch. Games will be unlocked on launch day this enabling users to start playing the second they go live.

One major improvement that I personally like is the addition of new methods for text input. It is now possible to use the motion sensor within DualShock 4 or even the touchpad, which makes text input a breeze. It is now also possible to change light bar settings on DualShock 4, which can be changed from Bright to Medium or even Dim through the Settings menu.

This is certainly an impressive update, one that improves a lot of things on Sony’s new console. Read up on the company’s official changelog to find out all that is new.
