wakieGetting up early in the morning is usually not looked upon favorably by many, especially if you did not have a good night’s sleep or if you slept late the night before. While alarm clocks are a great and traditional way of getting up, the folks behind the Wakie app think that there could be an even better way – a wake up call from a random stranger.

The app works by you inputting your number into it. It will then divide its users into Sleepyheads and Wakies, with the former being the sleeper and the latter being the person responsible to wake you up. Interestingly enough the developers have also thought to make it into some kind of social app.

Instead of a complete stranger waking you up, it will instead look for a stranger who is around your age and of the opposite gender, meaning that your morning wake up call could turn from being boring and mundane to a possible flirtatious scenario, although we’re not sure how many of us are really feeling up to it right after we wake up.

However if the app is unable to find you a Wakie, it will just revert to a regular alarm clock. The app is currently available on Android and Windows Phone with the iOS version currently under review. It’s an interesting idea, we’ll have to admit, but will it stick? We guess we’ll have to find out, but in the meantime anyone interested in taking it for a spin?
