Amazon, the online retail giant we all know and love, is looking to expand its presence in the retail space. We ran a report recently about the company opening up a physical retail store in New York in the near future. Today Amazon confirmed that it will be opening up pop-up retail stores in both San Francisco and Sacramento. Basically they will be kiosks in shopping malls where customers can come and check out the products made by Amazon, which include a smartphone, tablets, set-top box and e-readers.

The pop-up Amazon retail store will be located at the Westfield San Francisco Center which is located in downtown San Francisco. GeekWire reports that Amazon has confirmed this kiosk will be open for business starting Wednesday, October 22nd.

Amazon has mentioned a similar pop-up store which will be set up in Sacramento but so far details about its location and opening date have not been provided. In a statement provided to the scribe Amazon said that it is “excited” to open up these pop-up stores in San Francisco and Sacramento ahead of the holidays.

Its highly likely that these pop-up stores will be in business well before Amazon’s brick and mortar store opens up in New York City, which is expected to open its stores in time for the lucrative holiday shopping season.
