android-5.0-lollipop

Earlier this week Google finally uploaded the official system images of Android 5.0 Lollipop for Nexus devices. System images for all supported Nexus smartphones and tablets were uploaded with just one exception: the Nexus 4. It was said that the update would arrive soon and indeed it has. The official Android 5.0 system image for Nexus 4 has now been released.

What this means is that those who can no longer wait for the over-the-air update to arrive on their Nexus 4 can go ahead and download the official system image directly from Google’s website. However there are a couple of things that you should keep in mind before doing this.

First, since you will manually have to flash the system image, it is recommended that you create a backup of any and all data to be safe. Secondly, you must have adequate knowledge of flashing a system image to a Nexus device. It is not uncommon to run into problems which might scare a novice, so it would be best to actually know what you’re doing.

Those who really don’t want to get into all this can simply wait for the over-the-air update to drop. Now that the official Android 5.0 system image for Nexus 4 has been released it is only a matter of time before this latest and greatest Android update is push out over-the-air.

The system image can be downloaded from here.
