French cyclist François Gissy is something of a speed demon, except that instead of racing fast cars or motorbikes, Gissy loves his speed on a bicycle. It was just last year that he made news when he managed to achieve a top speed of 163mph on his bicycle, and now it looks like he’s back again, except that this time he has recently competed against the likes of a Ferrari sports car.

Racing around the Circuit Paul Ricard track located in Le Castellet in the south of France, Gissy managed to break his previous record with a top speed of 207mph, beating out a Ferrari 430 Scuderia sports car in the process. Of course all of this is thanks to a trio of small rockets attached to his bicycle.

The rockets are fueled with hydrogen peroxide which allowed Gissy to achieve the speeds that he did. Speaking to the folks at Gizmag, Gissy does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. He stated that he has plans on creating a “monstrous” bicycle where he hopes that it will be able to hit even faster top speeds of 249mph in less than 2 seconds.

“If we can find some serious sponsors, then we would like to build a monstrous bicycle, which will be called ‘Spine Crusher’. The goal would be to accelerate to more than 400 kph (249 mph) in less than 2 seconds. I just cross my fingers that we will have the green light soon in order to start the construction.” In the meantime if you’re curious as to how a bicycle might look like when it outruns a Ferrari, check out the video above for the details.
