It was confirmed almost two years ago that the PlayStation exclusive title Driveclub will offer a free edition to PlayStation Plus subscribers. However when the title was finally launched last year, after multiple delays, it ran into so many problems that the developers had to indefinitely postpone the PlayStation Plus edition launch. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President Jim Ryan was recently asked about its status in an interview and he was noncommittal, which means that as of now Driveclub PS Plus edition is in limbo.

When asked by Metro about the status of Driveclub PS Plus edition Ryan said that it is “still being looked it.” Ryan was then asked directly whether or not he could guarantee that PS Plus subscribers would get what they have been waiting for and his response was “I can’t say anything at this stage.”

Driveclub PS Plus edition was the first casualty of the title’s botched launch last October which saw many of its online features becoming unavailable for almost a month. Sony and the developer Evolution Studios tried to make it up to gamers by offering free DLC content as an apology.

No additional comment or clarification regarding Ryan’s remarks about Driveclub PS Plus edition has come in from either Sony Computer Entertainment Europe or Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Looks like PlayStation Plus subscribers shouldn’t hold out for it to arrive. If they want to play Driveclub, they should just go ahead and purchase the title.
