amazon-sueIt seems that Amazon will have to go to court in the near future, where the family of a Northeast Ohio high school senior who actually succumbed to a caffeine overdose in 2014 has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on Friday. Of course, Amazon is not alone in this lawsuit, since several other companies were involved, although Amazon.com Inc. was named since they happened to ship the supplement.

The state court lawsuit pointed out that Amazon alongside half a dozen related Arizona-based companies have violated Ohio safety laws through the manufacturing, distribution or sales of powdered caffeine. Amazon has remained mum on the lawsuit, while the remaining defendants also were unavailable for a comment.

The Hard Rhino pure caffeine powder sold on Amazon is the “culprit” here that caused the student’s death, where it was mentioned in the lawsuit that Hard Rhino ought to have labeled the caffeine powder as an over-the-counter stimulant as opposed to that of being a “dietary supplement”, not to mention that there was inadequate warning when it comes to telling the difference between a safe from a lethal dose. Do you think that Amazon will be able to walk away from this lawsuit without having to pay any of the $25,000 in damages as requested by the deceased’s family?
