computer-tombstoneParting is never easy, especially when it is a permanent situation and your loved one has breathed his or her last. There are certainly many different ways to remember someone, where among them include holding a memorial service, while others prefer to just spend some quiet time by the tombstone and reflect on life. A research team in France has come up with something interesting – by preserving the dearly departed’s scent.

The whole idea behind this seemingly bizarre move would be to help those who are coping with the death of their parent, child or significant other. Such a special perfume would let you go with your loved one just about everywhere, and perhaps, just perhaps, it might assist one in getting through the grieving process with less pain.

Katia Apalategui saw how her own mother hold on to a particular pillowcase simply because it had her late husband’s smell, which then prompted her to figure out how one is able to preserve a person’s scent. The team behind this will have their work cut out for them, as they extract odor from clothing and reconstruct the molecules in the form of a perfume. The entire shebang would take around four days of work, and this business is set to launch later this September with such a product costing approximately $600. The next time someone asks a widow what perfume she’s wearing, she can say her late husband.
