Limited edition cases for smartphones aren’t new, but to see Google start to offer up official cases for certain Android devices, that is new. Google has recently announced on the Android Official Blog that they have teamed up with music producer Skrillex in creating the first in a series of phone cases.
Dubbed “Editions”, these are a series of limited edition cases designed specifically for Android devices in mind. In this particular lineup, the designs were created by the producer himself and is based on his lifelong fascination with space. The case will do more than just protect your phone as it will also give users VIP access to Skrillex content as well as a live wallpaper.
The wallpaper in question will update itself throughout the day and will show images of the Earth shot from the stratosphere, and at night it will change itself to display constellations that should be visible based on your current location. Customers who purchase the case will also be able to get early access to a free OWSLA album from Google Play, as well as receive updates from Skrillex which will be sent directly to your phone.
We suppose if you’re a fan of Skrillex and his music this will be a pretty awesome feature to have, but even if you aren’t, those cases do look pretty funky. The cases will be available for purchase exclusively via the Google Play Store so head on over for the details.
