When it comes to video games and mission objectives, a lot of them involve either collecting items or killing someone, or sometimes you need to kill someone to collect an item. This is more or less what we’ve come to expect from RPGs and the likes, but in the latest Rise of the Tomb Raider playthrough, it shows how you don’t have to go about killing everyone to complete a mission objective.

For gamers who want to challenge themselves, then this stealth alternative certainly does present an interesting challenge. Granted it would probably be much easier to run in guns blazing, but like we said if you want a challenge instead of just mindless violence, then the upcoming game does not look like it will disappoint.

In fact this playthrough video offers a rather drastic contrast compared to what Microsoft had shown off at Gamescom, where there were a lot of flying arrows and knives involved. According to the video’s description, it seems that this playthrough was created in response to fans asking if there were alternate means of completing objectives.

“After GamesCom, some fans asked whether it was possible to play “Advancing Storm” with less enemy engagement. Rise of the Tomb Raider’s expanded combat system centers on player choice, and provides Lara with even more skills, for a spectrum of strategies ranging from stealth to aggression. This alternate playthrough demonstrates a completely non-lethal approach.”

In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, you’ll want to check out the playthrough in the video above.
