fairphone2In the world of business these days, I suppose one can say that it can be rather difficult to toe the ethical line, as long as there is an insane amount of profit to be made. The idea of the Fairphone is not new but it is rather rare in the business scene, as the objective would be to roll out a smartphone in the most ethically responsible method. This device known as the Fairphone 2 will use conflict-free resources as far as possible, while each sale will see some amount donated to a worker welfare fund in China as well as an electronic waste recycling program in Ghana.

A modular smartphone which is durable, repairable and upgradable, although stylish is out of the picture here. The final prototype was spotted in London, where it will feature a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor that is accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, a 5” Full HD display with Gorilla Glass, dual-SIM slots, dual-band WiFi, an 8MP camera behind, and Android 5.1 Lollipop as the operating system of choice. Will it be able to make it big? I suppose only time will tell, and those driving a Prius might want to take up the Fairphone 2 as their mobile communications device of choice.
