futurama-game

It would be an understatement to say that Futurama was a popular TV show, to this day it has a cult-like following, one that will be very pleased to find out that their beloved series is returning though not in the way they have been accustomed to it. Futurama is actually coming back as a mobile game, and that’s probably like the next best thing to actually having new episodes, who knows perhaps that might happen one day as well.

20th Century Fox has inked a deal with Wooga, a German game developer, to create Futurama: Release the Drones. The game’s story will revolve around the Planet Express crew that take on MomCo in a delivery war. Players will need to connect groups of drones to solve various puzzles.

Wooga will be aided in this project by Dave Grossman, the man behind Tales of Monkey Island and The Secret of Monkey Island. Joining him as the ex-producer of Futurama Patric Verrone, who in the later years of the show served as its co-executive producer.

Today’s announcement does not confirm precisely when Futurama: Release the Drones will actually be released, its quite possible that we may have to wait until 2016 to see how this mobile game has turned out.
