As many of you guys probably know by now, YouTube supports 360-degree videos. Why this is important is because it is one of the key aspects of virtual reality, in which 360-degree videos allow users to see all around them and basically experience the video as if they were actually there in person.

Now if you’re a fan of racing but have never had the luxury of being in a race car, you’re in luck. Subaru has recently posted a video (see above) in which it allows the viewer to experience a rally race as if they were there. The position of the video puts the viewer sort of on the roof of the car.

You can see all around you, and you can even peer into the car where you can watch the driver steer and shift gears. The video features David Higgins as the driver and Craig Drew as the co-driver. The race is taking place as part of the 2015 Lake Superior Performance Rally, which is also part of the Rally America championship.

It’s a pretty cool experience and one that you can view on your mobile phone or computer. If you were to use your phone, and if the feature is supported, you can actually pan and tilt your phone around for that virtual reality effect. On the computer you will need to drag the screen around to pan around the video, which honestly isn’t as cool.
