fujifilm_x-t1_01Heads up Fujifilm X-T1 users, it looks like a new firmware update is headed your way with improvements and features that you can look forward to. This was announced by Fujifilm and according to the announcement, you can expect the update to bump the firmware up to version 4.20 and it is expected to be released on the 17th of December 2016.

While the Fujifilm X-T1 is a highly-lauded mirrorless camera, one of the biggest gripes reviewers and users had with the camera was its autofocus speed, which for such an expensive device was frustratingly slow, at least compared to its competitors. However Fujifilm announced an update to version 4.0 that was released in June that supposedly solved that problem.

That being said what can we expect from the update? According to Fujifilm, “Users will also experience instant auto focus that can now be locked when using manual focus for still images and video, Optional Flashgun in Bracketing/Continuous shooting, Focus Zoom, additional Custom Display options, and the movie-record button now doubles as an FN button – all for enhanced visibility and image composition, and longer camera lifespan.”

This update will only be applicable to the Fujifilm X-T1 camera so if you have any other Fujifilm X-series device, it seems like this update isn’t targeted at you, but for those of you who own the device, you’ll want to keep an eye out for it.
