If you regularly use earphones that came bundled with your smartphone or are relatively inexpensive then chances are that you are quite aware of the average audio experience that they provide. The only other option is to potentially spend a couple of hundred dollars on premium earphones or headphones but not everybody wants to spend that kind of money on a pair of new cans. This is where BoomStick and its promise of a high-end audio experience from regular earphones comes in.
BoomStick is a small portable device that plugs into the headphone jack of every device that you can plug a headphone into, then plug the headphones into the BoomStick and press its single “boom” button to allow the device to work its magic.
“Consumers shouldn’t have to settle for mediocre audio. With the BoomStick, you can make your free earphones outperform expensive headphones or you can take your expensive headphones to a whole new level of enveloping sound,” says George Appling, the co-founder of BoomCloud 360, the company that makes this device.
Average users who don’t want to spend a great deal of money on high-end headphones but wouldn’t mind paying to improve the quality of their stock units might find the BoomStick to be useful. Its algorithmic sound re-engineering can be witnessed on the company’s website to gauge the difference between enhanced and normal versions of songs.
BoomStick isn’t exactly cheap, though, it will be available in spring 2016 for $99, and it’s not particularly hard to get a decent pair of headphones in that price particularly if you keep an eye out for online deals. That’s regardless of the fact that for many average users even $99 will be too much to spend on something that improves audio quality on their existing headphones.
