There are times in life when we head to the nearest bar counter and start to drown our sorrows in our favorite brand of poison – which isn’t too helpful in the long run when you think about it. A human drinking companion does come in handy as you can carry out a conversation with him or her, but what happens when you cannot find someone to go out pub crawling with you that particular evening? Fret not, technology is here to save the day, and Drinky the robot would ensure you need not down another shot alone, ever again.
When one thinks about it, Drinky is the perfect drinking companion since he will not take from your share of booze, even though he does have his glass in hand and downs every single shot without showing a single sign of getting drunk. The reason behind this? The consumed liquor will pass into a jar that is placed beneath Drinky, allowing you to pour him the same drink over and over again. It would be even better if he were self-serving in this matter, and you can just yap your brains off.
Inventor Park is happy with Drinky at the moment and does not plan to make Drinky a Kickstarter project. His inspirational story of Drinky? “On Christmas in 2012, I drank Soju (Korean alcohol) alone because I had no girlfriend at that time. Drinking alone was definitely terrible!! so I couldn’t drink anymore. Lastly, I put an extra glass in front of me and poured Soju into it. And then, I cheered by myself with the glass of Soju, as though there was someone in front of me. Surprisingly, after that, the taste became totally to be changed!!!!!! WOW!!! So, I could finally find the secret of taste of alcohol totally depends on existence of a partner. This is why I made this robot.”
