fujifilm ef-x500A couple of days ago, Fujifilm announced its new X-Pro2 mirrorless camera. The camera packs some pretty impressive hardware and to top things off, it will also sport a weather-sealed body, meaning that when it is rained on or used in freezing weather conditions, it will continue to operate.

However what good is a weather-sealed body if the rest of your gear isn’t, right? The good news is that for photographers who need the use of a flash unit for their cameras, you will be interested to learn that Fujifilm is developing a new flash unit that is aimed specifically towards their X-series cameras. To be more specific, the unit in question is the EF-X500.

According to Fujifilm, this will be a high-end flash unit and it will also be weather-sealed, so using it together with cameras like the X-Pro2 or the X-T1, along with the newly announced XF100-400 lens should result in a pretty resilient kit. The flash unit will feature a guide number of 50m at ISO 100, and can control up to three sets of TTL off-camera strobes.

It will also feature a large backlit display and a control dial for easy adjustments. It can also be tilted up or down, and left or right, depending on what you need. Unfortunately pricing has yet to be determined but the company expects that it will begin shipping in May this year.
