luminion-1[CES 2016] It looks like the the home is not the only place that has gotten smarter, but the community on the whole as well where smart devices are concerned. At CES Unveiled earlier this evening, we caught sight of the Luminion by Ubiant. The Luminion has been said to be a “smart community-based candlestick” – hmmm, who would have thought that a regular candlestick can even be community-based all these years down the road?

The Luminion is an eco-citizen luminous connected object that will enable Hemis – that is the name for Ubiant’s cloud solution, for energy as well as well-being management that will be based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), in order to have it come to life in homes. There were three Luminions on display there, where it will boast of an NFC reader within, alongside a slew of sensors that tells you just how much juice your home is consuming, as well as how much the entire community is using at that point in time.

The different colors will also light up in various colors as an indicator by themselves. You will be able to access data in greater detail (rather than just visuals alone) through the MyHemis app that will play nice on your NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet. Definitely one of the more interesting items that we have seen so far, and it is also has a far lower risk of fire than a regular candlestick, although it does not exude that kind of soft elegance of a candle.
