Earlier this morning, Microsoft did lift the veil on the Mimicker, which is a new alarm clock app for Android which will assist users to greet a brand new day through something very different. Rather than to rely on a series of rings or noises that are more irritating than anything else, how about waking up to a slew of fun and yet interactive games? The Mimicker app on Android will be the perfect platform to show off the capabilities of Project Oxford’s powerful machine learning APIs, where among them include tools for emotion recognition, computer vision and speech recognition.

Right now, the app happens to be available in the form of a free download in the Google Play Store. Similar to the other popular apps such as How-Old.net, TwinsorNot.net and MyMoustache.net, Mimicker will show just how Microsoft’s Project Oxford services can see action in various ways so that the user ends up with engaging applications that not only gets the job done, but is fun to use as well. It does not look as though one will be able to snooze one’s way through the morning alarm any more then with the Mimicker alarm clock app for Android! [Press Release]
