Instances in World of Warcraft are generally pretty straightforward as long as players know what they are doing and are geared properly. In previous expansions and patches, we’ve seen Blizzard introduce difficulty modes to make things a little more challenging, but in the upcoming Legion expansion, Blizzard will introduce a new challenge mode called Mythic+.

There will be different degrees of difficulty and obviously the higher the level of difficulty, the better the loot. At higher levels, there will be a random affix applied to the dungeon, similar to what Blizzard has done in Diablo 3 with the Greater Rifts feature. For example one of the affixes is “raging” in which upon reaching low health, all bosses will enrage.

If you’re unfamiliar, enrage is a mechanic usually spotted in raids in which if players take too long with one boss, the mob will enrage and will become pretty much impossible to kill, thus resulting in wipes. Other affixes spotted include “tyrannical” which adds more health to bosses and increases their damage.

Many players in the past have accused Blizzard of simplifying the World of Warcraft experience and making it too easy for gamers, so hopefully these new challenges will make things a little more interesting. In the meantime you can check out a preview of the new dungeon challenges in the video above courtesy of FatbossTV.
