The next title in Relic Entertainment’s real-time strategy game series based on Warhammer 40,000 has been confirmed today. Dawn of War 2 is going to be released next year, Games Workshop, Sega and Relic have announced today. A cinematic trailer has also been released for the title that has plenty of visuals to keep fans interested in all of the developments that take place between now and when this game finally comes out in 2017.

“Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!” said executive producer Stephen MacDonald, adding that this is the Dawn of War game that fans have been waiting for.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 will have the “epic scale” of the original Dawn of War game that was released in 2004 coupled with the elite heroes and customization options of Dawn of War 2, Sega confirmed in a release.

In the game, players will be able to control big units like the Space Marines’ Imperial Knight, the Eldar Wraithknight, and the Ork Gorkanaut. They will also be able to use destructive abilities such as Ork Rokks, Eldritch Storm, and Orbital Bombardment.

A specific release date or timeframe has not been confirmed yet, we also know for sure that Dawn of War 3 is going to be released at some point in 2017.
