uber-franceIf you have been following the news, you know that France has been the target of several terror attacks, and while security has more definitely stepped up in the aftermath, the French government has announced that they are planning on launching a smartphone “Terror Alert” app, which as the name implies will alert users to suspected attacks.

How does it work? It will require users to provide their location, so if and when a suspected attack has taken place and has been confirmed by authorities, users of the app will be sent an alert to warn them of it. Users will also be able to monitor alerts for up to 8 geographical locations within the country so that they can keep track of whether or not their friends and family members might be caught up in it.

The idea for the app came about last November following the attacks in Paris. However with the Euro 2016 football tournament taking place and presumably drawing huge crowds, there is an incentive to launch the app as soon as possible. In addition to warning users about the attacks, the app will also provide users with advice on how to keep themselves safe.

The alert will also work with other emergency situations and there will also be different bits of advice that have been tailored to the situation at hand.
