The developers behind of the popular driving game Burnout have revealed that they have started working on a new driving game. Burnout director Alex Ward confirmed via Twitter today that a new driving game is now in the pipeline. Naturally, the news got a lot of positive response from fans who have been waiting for something from this team for quite some time now.

Alex Ward and fellow Criterion colleague Fiona Sperry are now working at indie game studio Three Fields Entertainment. Dangerous Golf was their first new game at the studio. It basically reimaged the series’ popular crash mode but all of the action took place in an indoor arena.

Burnout Paradise was the last game in the popular Burnout series which was released back in 2008. Fans have been waiting for something new since then but Criterion doesn’t seem to be too willing. EA continues to own the Burnout name which means that whatever this team is up to, the title won’t be called Burnout.

Whether or not Three Fields Entertainment will be able to build a worthy Burnout successor remains to be seen. At least fans will be happy that the team behind one of their most favorite games is back to building a driving game, and their hopes will certainly be high.

No further details have been provided as yet about this game so it’s can’t be said when it’s going to arrive and which platforms it will land on.
