verizon signDepending on how heavy a user you are, you may or may not find yourself at the end of the month with barely enough data. Or in some cases, you might even blow through your data allowance. In some cases you get charged overages, although in recent times carriers have simply opted to just throttle your speed.

For those who are on prepaid plans and who do not get a refresh of their data every month (and will have to pay to top it up), the good news is that Verizon has enabled the “Always-on Data” feature for its prepaid customers. This means that should you blow through your prepaid data allowance, it’s not the end of the world.

Your speeds will instead be reduced to 2G speed of 128Kbps, which we suppose is still usable (barely) and should be good enough for you to keep getting your messages and emails, but if you were hoping to stream videos from the likes of Netflix or YouTube, you can pretty much forget about it.

We reckon that surfing the web can also be a bit slow, but like we said, it will still keep you connected so that if and when you choose, you can top off your data to get back to normal speeds again.
