The heroes in Valve’s DotA 2 are largely based on the Warcraft 3 mod with some slight changes to its aesthetics here and there, but for the most part, if you’ve played the original DotA then you’ll definitely recognize these heroes. That being said, DotA 2 players might be interested to learn that Valve will be introducing a new hero soon.

The company has recently announced the Monkey King hero, which for those unfamiliar is a character from a popular Chinese mythology from back in the day. It seems like they’re keeping it pretty close to the original character in terms of its looks and its abilities, such as a staff that can grow, and how he can multiply himself by pulling off tufts of hair from his body.

It should be noted that the Monkey King hero isn’t new per se. The hero was actually teased for the original DotA many years ago, but we guess its developers never really got around to it, so we guess Valve actually managed to beat them to it. The hero’s full abilities/skills haven’t been revealed yet, but if you check out the video above you should be able to get a good idea of what to expect.

Also from the video, it has been suggested that the hero will only be making its debut in the fall, so we’ve still got a little bit of waiting left to do. In the meantime check the Monkey King hero out in the video above.
