call-of-duty-modern-warfare-remastered-screenshot-03There has been a bit of confusion regarding the upcoming Modern Warfare Remastered’s availability. When it was first announced, it was revealed that the game would not be sold separately. However later it was speculated based on comments that maybe Modern Warfare Remastered could be sold separately after all.

If you were hoping that would be the case, you might be disappointed. According to a post on Charlie Intel, they have noted the fine print on Call of Duty’s website that states that not only will you need Infinite Warfare to play the game, but you will actually need to have the disc inserted in order to play the game, presumably as some kind of verification/authentication tool.

The fine print reads, “Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).” Now for those who were planning on buying Infinite Warfare anyway, we guess this doesn’t really change anything. However for those who are only interested in Modern Warfare, there does not appear to be any other way to acquire the game for now.

The folks at Polygon have reached out to Activision to clarify the fine print, but until the publisher states otherwise, like we said, gamers have only one way of acquiring the remastered copy of Modern Warfare for now.
