There are quite a lot of dating apps out there that are available as free downloads and while some of them do charge users for additional functionality, none is as tough to get in as The League. Quite simply, The League is a dating app for the rich that was previously available only on iOS. It has now finally been released for Android.
You can’t just download The League and join up. There’s a rigorous screening process. The team running The League will vet a potential member’s job, their degrees, and even their physical attributes before deciding whether or not they’re eligible to get in. Even then new members might be placed on a waitlist.
Founder Amanda Bradford says that launching The League on Android is a big step to further grow the app’s user base. She mentions that launching the app on Android was something they wanted to do for a very long time and since they only accept up to 20 percent of the users that sign up, this expansion to Google’s mobile platform enables them to double their user base without “lowering our acceptance standards.”
With the Android launch out of the way, The League now has its sights set on an international release, which the team is planning to do at some point this spring.
