SanDisk recently announced the launch of its 256GB Extreme microSD UHS-I card and now Lexar is out with a similar announcement. The company has launched its 256GB Professional 1000x microSD UHS-II (U3) memory card. This high-capacity memory card is described to be the perfect fit for users who intend to capture a lot of high-quality video and photo. It’s targeted at customers with smartphones, tablets, and high-end action cameras as the microSD card is capapble of handling massive media files in up to 4K format.

Courtesy of its UHS-II technology, Lexar’s new microSD card promises high-speed performance. It also features a microSD UHS-II USB 3.0 reader which can transfer files at up to 90MB/s of write speed and 150MB/s of read speed.

Lexar points out that this card is a good fit for products like GoPro action cameras and drones given that it’s very capable of handling large media files. It’s also going to be a good option for professional photographers who require a significant amount of memory to go about their work.

As you might have guessed by now, this microSD card isn’t going to come cheap. Lexar is going to sell it for $349.99 when it’s released later this quarter. Lower capacity versions will be available as well and prices for the 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB cards will certainly be lower.
