Earlier today Apple announced a new 9.7-inch iPad, although we guess it’s more of a refresh than anything groundbreaking. Now if you’re in the market for some new accessories, then you might be interested to learn that Logitech has also announced a new education-focused “rugged combo” keyboard case for the iPad.

As you can tell from the photo, this new rugged keyboard case has been designed to protect the iPad against drops and knocks. According to Logitech, they claim that this case can protect the iPad from drops as high as six feet, and given that it is education-focused meaning that it’s aimed at students or being around on field trips and whatnot, we’re sure the extra protection will be welcome.

According to Michele Hermann, vice president of mobility at Logitech, “We worked with Apple to design the Rugged Combo to be incredibly durable and protect iPad while bringing a secure keyboard connection that’s approved for testing, so teachers and students can focus on expanding what’s possible inside the classroom and beyond.”

The company is also claiming that the keyboard case will offer up laptop-like typing and will connect to the tablet via Logitech’s own proprietary secure connector. The keyboard and case will be sold separately or together to schools who are interested via Apple’s Education store.
