As 360-degree videos are starting to become commonplace, there is one area that needs to be addressed and that is with image quality. After all being immersed in a video while wearing a VR headset is very different from watching it on a monitor, and the better the quality, the more immersive it can feel.

Now if you’re looking to capture some high-quality footage, you might be interested to learn that Insta360 has started to take pre-orders for its new Insta360 Pro camera. This camera allows users to capture 360-degree videos with a resolution as high as 8K! According to the company, the camera features the “best-in-class 360 and 360 3D imaging, a seamless live-streaming experience, and advanced real-time image stitching technology”.

Now it should be noted that the 8K resolution is only available for still photos or videos edited in post-processing. However when you are shooting it will be displayed at 4K, and also 4K will be the max resolution it will go to while live-streaming, although we doubt that live-streaming at 8K isn’t very ideal given the size of the videos.

That being said, it sounds like the Insta360 Pro isn’t really aimed at the average consumer. With a price tag of $3,499 it definitely does not come cheap but if you want to pre-order it, you’ll be able to do so via its website.
