Cloud storage can be expensive, especially if you have a lot of content that you store up there. However Amazon did offer customers a pretty sweet deal on Amazon Drive where for $60 a year, they could store as much data as they liked on the platform. Unfortunately it seems that all good things must come to an end.

It seems that Amazon has decided to kill off its unlimited plan which means that if you did not sign up before, you would now be left with two options that comes in the form of 100GB for $11.99 a year, or up to 1TB of storage which would cost you $60 a year, so basically it seems that unlimited has now been replaced by 1TB.

Maybe for the average user looking to backup their photos 1TB could be enough, but if you are a power user who has more than 1TB, then it looks like your subscriptions are going to get more expensive. However the good news is that if you were already subscribed for unlimited data, you will be able to keep using it until the deal expires, so it’s not as if Amazon will be cheating you out of that.

That being said, Amazon killing off unlimited storage isn’t surprising. Previously we’ve seen companies such as Microsoft kill off its unlimited OneDrive plan after it was discovered that there were a small subset of users abusing it. We’re not sure if this is the same with Amazon Drive, but either way you should probably take note of it.
