We’ve all had an Atari console at some point in our lives, that is if you’re reasonably old and actually know what Atari is, and now the new generation will be able to get to know the company as well. Atari CEO Fred Chesnais has confirmed that there’s a new Atari console in the pipeline. It’s going to be very interesting to see what Atari comes out with given that it hasn’t made a home console in more than 30 years.

Atari released its Ataribox project teaser at the E3 2017 gaming convention last week. Many didn’t really believe what they had seen and were not ready to believe that a new Atari console could be in development.

The company’s CEO Fred Chesnais has now confirmed that the company is building its first new home console in three decades. The CEO also revealed that this product has been “years in the making,” and that it’s going to have woodgrain paneling much like the Atari machines of years past.

Chesnais also mentioned that the hardware is going to be PC-based and that the design isn’t final as yet. He didn’t provide any further details about the console.

It’s unclear at this point in time when Atari planning to launch its first new console in three decades and what it will end up calling the machine.
