It was reported yesterday that Amazon had registered a new slogan which suggested that the company will soon start selling packaged meal kits. All customers would have to do is take out the ingredients from the box and assemble the meal. According to a new report, Amazon has already been selling these fresh meal kits to select Amazon Fresh customers.

Amazon Fresh customer and Seattle resident Josh Chadd detailed his experience with the meal kits to GeekWire. Each Amazon Meal Kit has enough ingredients for two servings. The price for each kit ranges from $16 to $20.

Amazon is reportedly selling 17 different kits that cover a variety of meals which include Tacos al Pastor with Pork, Roasted Cod with Cannellini Bean Ragout & Pesto, Wagyu Beef Burger with Bacon Jam & Sweet Potato Fries, and Steak Au Poivre.

Chadd says that the meal kits starting showing up in the search results on Amazon Fresh just a couple of weeks ago. The meals are billed as “easy-to-follow, chef-designed recipe” with the kits providing customers with “perfectly portioned fresh ingredients.”

It remains to be seen when Amazon is going to expand this meal service to other markets. However, this goes to show that Amazon is serious about competing in this space so rivals like Blue Apron have really got to step up their game if they’re to compete against the behemoth that is Amazon.
