Given that Instagram is pretty much free to use, it isn’t surprising that the company has resorted to inserting ads in between posts in help generate revenue. These ads have also managed to find their way into the Stories feature of Instagram, and for the most part they are pretty obvious that they are ads.

This is because the majority of the ads in Stories appear to be professionally shot and edited, which we guess is fair enough, but it also makes them pretty obvious and users might skip them, but that will be changing because Instagram is now allowing advertisers to use the native Instagram Stories camera for ad creation.

What this means is that as you can see in the screenshot above, advertisers will now have the option of creating ads that look more amateurish, or at least something that you might expect regular Instagram users to create, where there might be text and filters used that are provided by Instagram Stories.

It will still be marked as a Sponsored post, but unless you were paying attention, it is possible that you could be fooled into thinking that some of these ads might be by people you follow. Whether or not this will prove to be more effective at capturing the attention of users remains to be seen.
