Amazon may have started out as a company that sold books but it has disrupted many industries since then. It has firmly cemented its position as one of the biggest tech companies on the planet and it’s certainly not resting on its laurels. If a new report is to be believed, Amazon is serious about getting into the sportswear game. The company is reportedly preparing to launch its own sportswear line which will take on the likes of Nike and Lulelemon.

Bloomberg reports that Amazon has tapped Taiwan-based Makalot Industrial Co. to make apparel for its sportswear line. This same company products clothing for Uniqlo, Kohl’s, and Gap. The report does mention that this project is new and that long-term contracts haven’t been signed as yet. The manufacturers are only producing small amounts of products for Amazon on a trial basis.

This won’t be Amazon’s first foray into the world of private-label fashion. It has previously offered office clothing, dresses, and jackets under brand names like Paris Sunday and Goodthreads.

Eclat Textile Co., another Taiwan-based textile company, is said to be involved in this project as well. Eclat makes clothing for sportswear giants Nike, Under Armour, and Lululemon, so it has a lot of experience with manufacturing sportswear.

Amazon hasn’t commented on the report so there’s no confirmation or denial from the company as yet.
