It was reported not too long ago that Snapchat was working on a major redesign and it has launched the revamped version of its app today. The new and improved Snapchat has been developed around the user and it will offer them enhanced personalization options. Snapchat also says that the new version is going to separate the social from the media, it’s no longer going to mix photos and videos from friends with content from advertisers and publishers.

The app will have two sections. All chats and stories from friends will be available on the left side of the app while stories from creators, publishers, and the community will be on the right side.

To improve personalization, Snapchat has developed a new dynamic Friends page. Available to the left of the camera, it displays the users’ friends based on the way they communicate with them.

It’s going to eliminate the need to scroll endlessly through chats to find the person the user wants to snap with. The app is going to list their friends in the order that they want to talk to them. Since it’s powered by an algorithm, it’s going to take the Friends page some time to figure out the users’ preferences.

There’s a new Discover page that includes stories from creators, publishers, and the community. The subscriptions are displayed at the top as well as other stories that users might be interested in watching. Snapchat still opens to the camera as before.

The new Snapchat is available for download starting today.
