Amazon’s Prime subscription has expanded over the years, where in addition to offering customers free/faster deliveries, it also gives customers access to other services like photo storage, video and music streaming, and so on. It is why it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Amazon has recently experienced a surge in signups.

According to an announcement by the company, it seems that they are claiming that more than 4 million people have signed up for Prime during the holidays. However it should be noted that this is a combination of users who signed up for the free trials as well as those who signed up for paid memberships, so it is unclear as to what the breakdown is, but it is still a pretty good indication of how many people are interested in the service at the very least.

Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer of Amazon said, “We’re excited that people continued to join Prime this holiday, to take advantage of more fast and free shipping options plus new convenient delivery like Amazon Key, as well as early access to Lightning Deals and unlimited streaming of TV shows and movies, including Prime Originals and more.”

Amazon has recently expanded its operations to Australia where they are also expected to eventually allow customers in the country to signup for its Prime membership as well.
