Electronic Skin Technology

Kent Displays Inc. from the US recently unveiled a new technology that makes up its cholesteric liquid crystal display (ChLCD) on almost the entire surface of a cell phone at SID Display Week 2009, dubbing it "Electronic Skin". This concept was developed in order to realize the "display everywhere" idea that virtually allows a display to be formed on just about any object surface. The future version will be much better, capable of displaying up to 4,000 colors. Now imagine the iPod range featuring such technology on their case - no longer do you need to skin your iPods as the display can be changed at your whim and fancy to show off any color or pattern of your choice.
