
Diabetes patients have to prick themselves every day in order to monitor their blood sugar levels, and that can end up to be rather uncomfortable for most people, especially kids. A team of engineers at Baylor College have managed to discover a noninvasive method to measure blood glucose levels thanks to the use of non-invasive microwave technology. The main thrust of the idea is to use microwaves to determine a substance’s dielectric constant. I wonder whether the use of microwaves over a long period of time will cause the patient to develop other kinds of medical problems – after all, we were told not to stand too close to the microwave and sleep far away from our cell phones…
