SOMA Portable Media Player Concept

No, you won’t be able to find this at South of Market in San Francisco, but the SOMA portable media player (PMP) is actually short for “somatic sensation” – which is pretty much a more flowery way of expressing the word “touch”. You will be surprised to know that the entire design does not consist of just a touchscreen display, but introduces touch to the whole PMP as well. This 3.5″ device comes with a fully customizable material, while a secondary analog LCD that shows off buttons are in actual fact, tactile buttons. We’re not too sure what to think of something like this if it were to be released on the mass market, but the less-than-perfect rectangular shape will take some getting used to. Would be nice to see the embedded memory within augmented by a memory card slot of sorts.
