Spalding could not resist making more money off basketball fans with an iPod by rolling out the new iHoop basketball system. Dubbed “the ultimate fusion of basketball and music,” the iHoop comes with an integrated sound system that was specially designed to be used with iPods, but it should play ball with other standard MP3 player or PMP in the market as well. A couple of 3″ ear-level speakers and a 5″ subwoofer will allow the audio system to crank out 30 watts of tubthumping sound, while five easy access buttons on the iPod enclosure provide you with full control over the music. The audio system is also protected from the elements thanks to the use of “marine grade” outdoor components, but we don’t think your iPod will survive one night out in the cold (mainly due to theft more than anything else).
