Sony Walkman A840 and S740

Sony has released a couple more Walkmans for the masses – the A840 and the S740. The former is the first Sony Walkman that is more or less as slim as its iPod counterpart, measuring a mere 0.28″ thin, although it comes with a larger 2.8″ OLED display. Compared to LCD, OLED offers superior color reproduction while boasting a long battery life of 29 hours and 9 hours for music and video playback, respectively. It will also handle AAC, H.264 and the standard audio/video formats supported by Sony. The Walkman A840 will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, where it will hit retail stores this October for $265, $331 and $442, respectively. As for the S740, it will feature a 2″ LCD display and offer 42 hours of music playback time.
