
Initial speculation as to the reason for the delay of the white iPhone 4 ranged from supply shortage, to issues with the white coat of paint, to Apple possible fixing the issues of Antennagate on the white model, but according to The Street, the delay may be a little more “transparent” than that. The site is speculating that the white iPhone, due to its paler color and glass materials used in its construction, becomes a bit too transparent -or rather translucent– and leaks light from the LCD display on the side and back of the phone - this may deteriorate the image quality serious way. Light leakage and Apple’s attention to detail may be the real culprit keeping the white iPhone off of store shelves for now. Because of the glass material used, a solution for the problem is harder to arrive at compared to a phone made of plastics or metal. Related articles:
