If you’ve got a large monitor and wish you could make use of it more efficiently when you’re browsing search results you now can; thanks to the folks at SearchLion. The company has officially launched SearchLion: a search engine that’s touted as the world’s first search browser. Confused yet? Don’t be.
Don’t you just hate browsing tons of websites looking for something and yielding nothing fruitful in the end? SearchLion might be what you need. SearchLion is basically a search engine that takes up the left screen of your web browser, leaving you with a large blank space on the right that you can use to make searching a much easier task. Once you’ve entered what you’re looking for, you have the option to browse the results in the same webpage itself – no more opening new tabs or windows just to check the search results.
Some of you might say “Google already does this!” The difference between SearchLion and Google is that the websites that appear on the right aren’t just previews: anything you open up will be a fully viewable webpage that you can actually surf around and click links in. This technology allows you to easily preview websites so you can find what you’re looking for without having to leave the search engine.
In addition to opening search results in the same window, SearchLion allows you to share search results on social websites, and you can even save searches to come back to them later. If Google is not your search engine of choice, you also have the ability to switch it to something else like Bing or Yahoo!
I gave it a test run earlier and I gotta say: it’s pretty impressive. Previewing sites was quick – just the ability to open multiple pages without having to leave the search screen was already remarkable by itself. All the additional features and options are just icing on top of the cake. Give it a try yourself and let us know what you think, or watch a promo video to see how it works:
