They say that thin is in, and we certainly would not want to argue with that. After all, turn on your HDTV and switch to an MTV channel, chances are you will see slim ladies swarming all over a big time gangsta rapper. The same principle does seem to apply to consumer electronics – have you noticed just how slim and thin these devices have become nowadays?

Well, Sony Optiarc America has decided to follow today’s trends with their first dual USB bus powered slim portable DVD/CD rewritable drive known as the Sony DRX-S90U, where it is meant to see action primarily with your notebook or netbook, although desktop computers can still have a date with it.

Just what does the new DRX-S90U drive bring to the table? How about 8X DVD+R recording speeds, the ability to record on 8.5 GB DVD+R Double/Dual layer and 4.7 GB DVD-RW discs at 6X speeds? Each $70 purchase will come with the Nero 10 CD/DVD burning application to get you started right out of the box. [Press Release]
