Victorinox Swiss Army Slim and Slim Duo USB Drives

Victorinox Swiss Army, creator of the famous “Original Swiss Army Knife” (designed by founder Karl Elsener in 1887), announced its Slim and Slim Duo USB Drives at CES in January 2011, and today, both models are shipping. According to the company, both versions offer an “iron-clad” protection using “the most sophisticated USB data encryption technology available”, well, we would not expect any less from the brand who invented the Swiss Army Knife… but we have no way to check the information. Additionally, the devices are waterproof and shock-resistant and TSA-approved (bladeless design).

Personally, I would make my choice of purchasing a 128 GB compact USB flash drive for $349.99 (Slim Duo) by looking at the stylish design that features the legendary logo and offers 5 choices of bright and elegant colors (including silver, blue, orange, pink and green).

The Slim and Slim Duo are now available for purchase at Swiss Knife Shop, Amazon, B&H and Datavision, with pricing starting at $39.99 (4GB) for the Slim and $349.99 (128GB) for the Slim Duo. The Slim comes in 4GB, 8GB 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities.

For price/product comparison, you can look at the Super Talent Luxio 128 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive STP28GLXBU, listed at a $342.99 price on Amazon and available for $309.99, that offers AES-256 hardware Encryption, no shock-resistant, no waterproof and packaged in a sleek and common design that has no brand personality.
