Remember our earlier piece that we picked up from a Wired interview that Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind Mario and Zelda, was talking about stepping down from his current position as senior managing director of Nintendo’s EAD division, simply because he wanted to give the younger guys a chance while he pursues smaller projects that fall squarely on his shoulders, and do not have to go through a five year development period? It seems that Nintendo denies this, never mind the fact that the market had already taken those statements into consideration (out of context or otherwise), sending Nintendo’s shares plummeting by 2% overnight.

A Nintendo spokesperson informed Reuters that “This is absolutely not true. There seems to have been a misunderstanding. He has said all along that he wants to train the younger generation. He has no intention of stepping down. Please do not be concerned.” What do you think about this entire situation – is Miyamoto stepping down from his current position or not?
