Facebook subscribersNot too long ago, Facebook launched its Subscribe button which basically allowed Facebook users to receive updates from other users without having to be friends with them. This worked great for public figures and celebrities who didn’t want to create/maintain a dedicated Facebook “page” just so their fans can stay up to date with their lives. Well now it looks like Facebook is going to expand the functionality of the Subscribe button.

According to reports online, Facebook will be rolling out a Subscribe plugin for websites in the future. This will allow website visitors to subscribe to a website so that they can stay up to date with all its latest posts. At the moment websites have been running separate Facebook pages to feed news to their fans but I guess this feature will skip that step and give the public access to the articles directly. No word on when this feature will be rolling out but if this catches on, I guess it’s one more reason to not use RSS feeds?
